Business Plan Template

Executive Summary

This is your overview of your business plan and highlights your company profile and your goals.

General Company Description

Describe what your business startup will do, who you will sell to (and where), who your competitors are and why customers will buy from you versus your competitors.

Products and Services

Communicate what you are going to sell.   That is, what is your product or service and how is it different from those of your competitors.   What is the product life cycle and is their opportunity for spin-offs?

Marketing & Sales

In this section you will highlight your marketing strategy and how you are going to “get the word out” about your product or service.   How will you sell your product and where?

Management & Organization

Highlight your experience and detail why you can build this company and sell your product and services in a competitive landscape.  What is the best organization for your business?

Startup Expenses and Capital

How much money do you need just to get started?   Are you using cash savings, borrowing from a bank or small business organization or borrowing from family?

Financial Plan

Develop projections for your sales and revenues and the associated variable and fixed costs that you plan to incur.   Variable costs would include things like the cost of materials to make your product whereas fixed costs would include assets like computers, rent, production machinery, etc.

Summary Statement

This is the final pitch.   Explain what makes your business unique and determine what will make your company and your product or service stand out in the competitive landscape you are entering.
